Full Version: Bob Seger - New Album Coming?????
Bob Seger > Bob Seger > Bob Seger

Regarding Ken's post in the special notices above... The link he provides leads to a thread in another discussion forum. In this thread, it is said that Bob Seger is in the studio and actively recording a new album that he hopes to have out by Thanksgiving.
First of all, this would be extremely fast to be out by Thanksgiving.
But if this news is true, it is welcome for sure. Could maybe a DVD be not far behind?
Could this, if the rumor is true, also mean a potential tour to promote the album? I think about that because of the rumor that he wants the album out by Thanksgiving, indicating a deadline that is somewhat important for some reason. An upcoming tour could be a reason to need to have an album out soon.
Or, maybe he just want's it out by then so he can earn some money for his Christmas shopping...:-)
Well, only time will tell. But I suggest that people who visit this forum from time to time keep your eyes and ears open. If you learn something, post it here. Also, drop in often because the news might be posted here.

Mark - (and everyone else!)

My two sons go to school in Grand Rapids. This weekend they had a special on WLAV 97.1 with Seger after Seger after Seger music.. They tell me that it is because he announced that a new album is in the works, and due out around Christmas. I could not find anything on the WLAV website. Michael said he also heard it today on WLAV. Let's keep hoping . . . . smile.gif

What was it, about 11 years between the last two, not counting the Greatest Hits CDs? He's either got a ton of stuff stored up, or it's not a new "album". Recent history is that he dosen't do anything fast, or for the money, which explains why there is no DVD (maybe that's what they're workin on). Hope I'm wrong, but I would be suprised to see any new music this year.

Buy the book. It's great.

Well call me "cautiously optimistic" about this. So is this; A) Totally new recorded material, cool.gif Songs left over from his last album, FTP? C) As yet unreleased songs or D) All the above?
BTW, I did a quick check over at www.pause&play.com (CD release update web site) and there's no mention of this anywhere. Of course they aren't the only source out there on the web but they are a major source nonetheless. Maybe Bob had such a good time on his past CD recording & tour he's decided to keep a good thing going? Whatever the reason all I can say is God speed Bob, "get ur done"!

If there's anything for real about a new album, which if true I think would probably be a mix of new and old, you might eventually find the news here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendID=31079759
However, this site is updated just about as often as the official Bob Seger website.
I think any new news this noteworthy will show up sooner or later.

Mark, I don't know why you started a new thread rather than adding to the one I posted on this topic but if Seger fans want sources to the most reliable information about Bob, they need to visit The Segerfile, segerfile.com and segernet, segernet.com . With the potential of what may be happening, I suggest that they visit these sites quite often.

Scott Sparling's Segerfile is, hands down the best site on the internet to learn about Bob's life. This should be required reading for any Seger fan. Because of the good work Scott has done, he has sources of information that can give him a "heads up" well before the rest of us learn about it.

Segernet has members who know Bob and others who are in the music business and have information that we wouldn't know. I wish that these people would post here, but they don't. So, once again, if you want to see the best information about what Bob may be working on, look here. http://www.segernet.com/forums/index.php?s...c=4103&st=0

There is a new post that jdaunt made at Segernet early this morning that also points to something new.

My fingers are still crossed,

Ken

Well, Seger has had YEARS to perfect a LOT of new material, so there might be a chance that something is in the works. If I get the chance in the next few days, I take a trip across town and talk with Mark Chatfield (if he is in the store) to see if he will give up any info.

Until there is an official announcement, you might as well be down on Revisionism Street listening to Innuendos..... I have been disappointed too many times in the past and am still awaiting the FTP DVD.

DETROIT (Billboad) – Bob Seger is raiding his vaults for a 10-song set dubbed "Early Seger, Vol. 1" that will be released November 27 exclusively via Meijers stores in the Midwest before becoming available on Seger's official web site three days later.

Highlights of the collection are four unreleased tracks, three of which -- "Star Tonight," "Wildfire" and "Days When the Rain Would Come" -- were written during the early '80s; "Star Tonight" was recorded by Don Johnson for his "Heartbeat" album in 1986.

"Gets Ya Pumpin'," meanwhile, began life as a song called "Pumpin'" originally for Seger's "Seven" album in 1973 and was recorded again in 1977 before being revisited for "Early Seger."

In all cases Seger enhanced the original tapes with fresh vocals, horns and/or other new instrumentation recorded during September at Kid Rock's studio in suburban Detroit.

Seger also did some extensive re-recording on "Long Song Comin'" from the "Seven" album, while the set's other five songs -- a cover of Tim Hardin's "If I Were a Carpenter" and Seger's own "Someday" from 1972's "Smokin' O.P.'s," a gospel-flavored rendition of the Allman Brothers Band's "Midnight Rider" from 1973's "Back in '72" and the "Seven" tracks "Get Out of Denver" and "U.M.C. (Upper Middle Class)" -- were remastered from the original tapes.

Snippets of the songs are currently streaming at BobSeger.com. There's no word yet on whether the album or individual songs will be sold as downloads when "Early Seger" becomes available at the web site; Seger has so far kept his catalog away from online sales.

"Early Seger" is the Michigan rocker's first since "Face the Promise" in 2006. He's not planning any live appearances to promote the album, but is said to be considering additional volumes of the collection.

While the above states that bob isn't "planning" a tour, there is A LOT of ticket info on bobseger.com that seems silly to post if something isn't imminent.
