Bob Seger > Bob Seger > Live Shows

Just got a Yahoo Alert that said Bob has agreed to perform at a new place in Effingham, IL this fall. It's called the Rosebud Theatre and only seats 1500. Wouldn't that be great. It'd be like Bob sitting in your lap and singing to ya!
Hope it turns out to be true. Now I just have to find out where the eff Effingham is..

This is excellent news ... any idea when the show is slated for? What I am hoping is that he does a round in the midwest to include Milwaukee's Summerfest this June/July.... rolleyes.gif
Steve
Hmmm maybe the fall date willbe him wrappping up a summer outdoor venue tour? biggrin.gif

I heard on the radio just yesterday as they wrapped up a Seger song that he had stated he had alot of fun this last tour so I'm thinking and HOPING when fall rolls around,he will tour one more time at least.

Interesting.

I hope this is true as this would only be a 3 hour drive down I-57 but I am a little skeptical about this. Effingham is in the middle of nowhere. Still there is a glimmer of hope.
SHELLY IN HENDERSON OF COURSE
Middle of Nowhere sounds like a song title... Maybe Bob's doing background research for a new song?? tongue.gif

But, on the other hand, Middle of Nowhere is SOMEWHERE if Bob's performing there.

Effingham: 68 miles SW of Terre Haute IN and 102 miles NE of St Louis, MO. Everything you could ever want to know about this place is at: http://www.villageprofile.com/illinois/eff...effingham1.html

To get to the middle of nowhere:
"Amtrak service is available on the Illinois Central line. The Effingham airport has charter flights and can accommodate most business jets. Commercial airline service is provided by sixteen major airlines that serve Lambert St. Louis International Airport 90 minutes west on I-70..."

FAA status for Effingham airport: "No Current Scheduled Air Carrier Service."

Amtrak: leave Chicago at 9:15am (train#391) or 4:05pm (train #393), arrive in Effingham at 12:29pm or 7:19pm (assuming no delays)

I looked at the list of possible performers on their website, but I didn't see Seger listed ... however they did have Bob Saget. ohmy.gif Maybe the newspaper doesn't know the difference between the two laugh.gif . Wasn't that a topic of discussion on here a while back!?!? I wish it would be Seger -- that would be an easy trip for me! biggrin.gif

That figures.
I was all excited. I think someone misread something.
I did see that page with the people they had tentatively signed up, and didn't see Bob's name. But I figured that maybe they only had the confirmed people posted.
Oh well. Let's wait and see what happens? There's a lot of time for things to happen between now and then.
I'm hoping for something, somewhere.

The theater website doesn't list any performers.

The PR blurb (post #1) says:
----------------------------
"EFFINGHAM – Performers such as Hinder, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seger, The Charlie Daniels band and others have agreed to play at a new theater in East-Central Illinois this fall.

Martin Hubbard, the creator of the Rosebud Theatre in Effingham, said more than half a list of 47 artists are under contract to perform once the new Branson-style theater is complete. He said all 47 have agreed to come, but didn’t say which are already under contract.

“All the people have agreed to come, but we don’t have an actual date yet,” Hubbard said.
----------------------------

Anyone know what a "Branson-style theater" is like?
Is it like the Vegas shows with tables or booths with cocktail service!! ???? tongue.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
MarkD
Hmmm. Maybe it wassn't the theater web site, but somewhere I saw thumbnail photo's of a bunch of singers. All had a country type appearance and had country type names. I didn't recognize any. I'm sure it was connected with the theater, but then I'm getting old...

I've never been to Branson, not into that many country artists to go, but me wee mum's been there. She makes it sound like it's mostly mid-size auditoriums, no booths, tables at the shows she saw. Just yer regular theatre-style venue.

And with nobody being under contract yet, who knows what could happen by fall. I'm just excited they're looking at more possible shows. Maybe Bob had just so much fun with us last winter, he'll be bored when the kids go back to school and be in the mood to do some more shows for us...hope so, anyway.

The list that I saw was on the theater's website, under the "Theatre History" section. Bob Saget is under the Adult Contemporary section, but I didn't see Bob Seger anywhere. I'm not saying the PR report isn't correct, I just thought it was funny that Bob Saget was listed on the website but Seger wasn't, and there was that discussion a while back about confusion between Seger and Saget (if I remember correctly, there was something in an interview with Bob Saget???).

"Below is a list of some of the most popular performers of today that could perform right here in Effingham.

OK, it was driving me crazy so I had to find the discussion on Seger / Saget -- and realized it was on a different message board, not this one (oops!). Anyway, here is the Bob Saget interview I saw before, when Seger and Saget were both performing in Philadelphia.

Found this today thought you might like Seger Wins Three
Bob Seger capped a comeback year by winning three Detroit Music Awards during Friday night's (April 20th) ceremony at the State Theatre. Seger, who attended the ceremony with his son, Cole, took home the Outstanding National Major Label Recording trophy for "Face the Promise," his first album of new material in 10 years, was named Outstanding National Major Label Recording, while the single "Wait For Me" was named Outstanding National Single and Outstanding Video, Major Budget. Also winning on Friday was Iggy Pop, whose "20th Century Masters -- Millennium Collection: The Best of Iggy Pop" won the Outstanding Anthology/Compilation/Reissue prize. A full list of Detroit Music Awards winners can be found at www.detroitmusicawards.com. Seger was mum about future touring plans at the awards show, though members of his camp recently said that a fall continuation of the "Face the Promise" tour was more likely than a summer run.

Hello, I am holding out for info on the Rosebud theatre, or if not, does anyone know if he is playing Milwaukee's Summerfest? I think it would have been announced already. I have my fingers crossed for both to happen.
Roll_Me_Away
I about fell off my chair when I read this thread. I am from around Effingham and this is the first I've even heard about this place. It would be so freaking awesome to have him come here to play. I would definately take my mom this time! His Nashville show in December was amazing, I'd love to see him again!!! And for those of you who said we are in the middle of nowhere...you are right we are 2 hours from St. Louis, 4 from Chicago, 2 1/2 from Indy, and 5 from Nashville. Anyway, this is definately a point of interest for me now, and will keep you posted if I find out anything.

I just checked the Rosebud Theater website and they do have some shows listed now, starting in November and going into 2008 -- but no mention of Bob & the Band. I'll keep checking. And Rachel, let us know if you hear anything!!! biggrin.gif

She was there with a full band.

Her band featured two new members, at least for this show. There was a new drummer, replacing Dinos brother. And there was a guy on keys who was so new that even Liz didnt remember his last name.
