As a 7 year survivor of this "beast", I hope all women across our country get annual mammograms! I was fortunate and a mammogram caught mine early! Early detection is extremely important!! I am blessed to have beat this "beast". Mine was caught at Stage 1 and I was 43 at the time.

Also, I want to point out that this disease does not discriminate. Doesn't matter if you have a history or not!!

To anyone who may be going thru this there is support out there, women who have been there/done that. That was crucial to me, having a support system besides my family!

This is written in honor of the many women I've known and lost to Breast Cancer!

smile.gif Thanks for "Speaking Out" to all the women, please listen to what she says. I work in the healthcare industry and she is so right....earlier detected~~easier to treat and possibly be cured of the deadly & ugly disease

NP, it's my duty and mission as a survivor! If it helps one woman who may have put off getting a mammogram than I've accomplished what I set out to do! wink.gif

I have a very dear friend that had a double mastectomy 3 years ago. Unfortunately the cancer was not removed completely and she is now close the the final stages. It has invaded her liver and is traveling quite quickly. We have been trying to keep her spirits up but she has a very hard time. She cries alot. One thing that we would like to do for her before she is unable to get around, is to get a set of tickets for Bob Segers concert in Saginaw. Does anyone know who I could contact to possibly have a set of tickets for her & her husband donated. Her husband recently lost his job so they are in dire straits. Please e-mail me @ pseaman@beavercreektownship.com if you have any suggestions. She has been a dedicated Bob Seger fan since the Silver Bell days.

I Had a friend die a few years back. She had not had a mamogram for 9 years.....she was 41 years old and left a 5,7 and 17 year old daughters.
Hers was the real aggressive kid. All women need to know how important mamograms are. I work in the health support field and the mamograms are gettting better and better .
My hat is off to all the brave women who have fought and died and fought and won their battle with this disease. For a battle it is.
Brave Strangers but sisters in arms!

Today is OCtober 2, 2009. My husband was diagnosed with cancer yesterday. It keeps replaying in my head when the doctor said"YOU HAVE CANCER". I listened to "Wait for Me" this morning and I'm coming apart. I don't know what to do.

swhip7, fate has dealt a big blow. My sympathy to you. You need to spend as much tme as you can with him as long as you have the time to do it. Enjoy the moment. Make the best of the time he has left, whether it turns out to be treatable or not. Go places, see things together, talk, watch movies, whatever, do it together. And talk some more. The conversations will probably mean more to you than anything else. Maybe for him too.
My opinion only
